COLLECTIONS
Devon is the home to more than 40 National Collections ®. Some are held by in our magnificent botanic gardens or by the local authority, many in private gardens. All are held by enthusiasts who have internationally acknowledged expertise in their field.
Our collection holders help to keep alive the social history of our cultivated plants; they ensure that genetic variation is preserved for future horticultural breeding programmes including those that address climate change; some are involved in vital pharmaceutical research eg. the search for new non-resistant anti- malaria drugs.
